Statement Concerning the declarations of Wathiq Al-Battat, the secretary general of the terrorist Hizbolla party in Iraq and the Authority attitude

The Central Committee of Coordination to Support the Uprising of the Iraqi People

13 February 2013

We followed with great concern what one of the Hizbollah brigades – the Islamic Nahda in Iraq – the so called Wathiq al Battat has declared since February 4th, 2013 until this moment, to create local armies -outside the official army of the state - to support the government inclinations to combat its enemies.

“This army named “Al Mokhtar”, he said, “will be ready in case the demonstrations are diverted from their right course by terrorists” as he described it. His organization started distributing forms to recruit members, confirming its sectarian and criminal identity, and started assassination operations in different parts of Baghdad. Members of this organization appeared on TV threatening what they called the terrorists and Baathists, as they openly and repeatedly described the demonstrators.

On the other hand, Hizbollah in Iraq – the Islamic Nahdha - threatened on the 8th of January 2013 to decimate the Baathists in case the law of Justice and Accountability is annulled, and called for demonstrations to reaffirm Article 4 of the Terrorist Act and to activate executions.

In spite of the multiple declarations of the government' members trying to clear their responsibilities and duck from these bloodthirsty calls for murder, the sectarian government and its criminal behavior in clinging to power for the last many years, confirm that it helps, backs and arms this Army and facilitates the terrain for its actions. Indeed, these declarations are nothing but lies and deceit.

These irresponsible, sadistic and bloodthirsty calls, fuel even further the fire already engulfing Iraq and is a first step towards a real and extremely dangerous civil war which will destroy Iraq completely, God forbids. The acts of this terrorist Party confirm the growing political, economic and intelligence Iranian influence in Iraq through its military arm: the terrorist Alquds Division and its cooperation with the sectarian government which always uses the pretext of the civil war whenever there is a political or a social crisis. Al-Battat’s call is in full harmony with the latest statements of agent Nuri Al-Maliki, the head of the governing authorities in Iraq, especially his threats to the demonstrators when he said “stop before you are forced to stop”. The culture of blood, terrorism, hatred, and revenge has always been the governing authorities’ approach to terrify the people and threaten them.

Thug Wathiq al Battat's call to create “Al- Mukhtar Army”, and recruit people to join it, to the full knowledge of the Iraqi state apparatus, is a first step on the way to engulf Iraq into a civil war, to confront the peaceful demonstrations and protests all over Iraq in the last two months. Instead of responding to the people’s legitimate demands, which are supported by the same laws applied by the current authorities, it is obvious that these authorities are trying to maneuver by issuing a series of hollow decisions which would bureaucratically abuse the people and become other means of blackmailing them. When the demonstrators bravely insisted on their demands, the authorities incited their Iranian agents to create sectarian militias in order to terrify the demonstrators and the protestors in the squares of honor and dignity.

The political and sectarian realities imposed by the US occupation on Iraq, worked on marginalizing and sullying the image of millions of Iraqi citizens who reject these realities, and describing them as violent and terrorists. At the same time, about 12 armed militias have been legalized. Those militias are linked to Iran, and are fulfilling its revenge agendas against Iraq. They are provided by arms, finance and training. They roam the roads of Baghdad and other Iraqi cities with the protection and the blessing of the ruling sectarian government.

Hence, Wathiq al Battat’s  official declaration of civil war and through TV channels, against the uprising and the protesters, and the creation of Al-Mukhtar pro Iranian militia, is nothing but a call for sectarian assassinations and murders and an initiation to a civil war in a disaster struck Iraq. The danger of this step constitutes catastrophic future consequences on Iraq and the whole region, will complicate the problems further, will create more vengeances, and will incite revenge in a society ruled by tribal and clan customs.

The Central Committee of Coordination strongly condemns and denounces the declarations of this terrorist thug, Wathiq al Battat, the secretary general of the Hizbollah in Iraq and its terrorist sectarian organization, and demands that the Supreme Court of Justice and the Public Prosecutor arrest him in accordance with the Article 4 of the Terrorism Act for the following crimes: initiating murder, putting his threats into execution by bombing Refugees' camps in Iraq, undertaking assassinations with silenced guns, and bloody attacks in Iraq. We also call upon the United Nations, the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation, and the Human Rights organizations to take the necessary measures to hold the Maliki government responsible for its crimes against humanity when it used disproportionate military force to deal with the peaceful demonstrators in Falluja on January 25, 2013, murdering 8 young men and wounding scores more.

Furthermore, and while denouncing and condemning these irresponsible declarations, we ascertain that they will push Iraq into a civil war and will have disastrous consequences on the country and on the people, and shall wreck further the security and the stability of the whole region.

Brave Demonstrators and protesters! Don't be scared by these bloodthirsty militia' calls for murder, for you are valiant and proud. Keep on your resistance and persevere, for victory is looming on the horizon.
Indeed! Victory is granted by the Lord.
